Next Gen Spectacles
Snap's first Spectacles with a display, bringing augmented reality to life for creators.

.work summary
In 2021, Spectacles became something entirely new. Rather than call it Spectacles 4, we named it Next Generation Spectacles, because it wasn't just another iteration: it was the first pair with a display in front of your eye, bringing augmented reality to life. This wasn't a product for store shelves. It was a small, deliberate launch to a select group of developers and creators, built so they could design and prototype AR experiences native to a face-worn camera. What began as a camera accessory had grown into the foundation of a whole wearable computing platform.

My role changed at this level, too. I started where I always had, inside SnapLab, co-art-directing on our visual design team. Partway through, that team was absorbed into Snap Inc.'s marketing org, where we suddenly had far more resources and far more people around us, and my title finally caught up with the work I'd been doing. Because these Spectacles weren't sold in stores, the point-of-purchase and retail work I'd done on every previous launch fell away, so I focused on the website and on the visuals for our go-to-market. I gave art direction on the product renders and on the creator content featured across the site.
